How to use an AI text message generator for the texts you keep putting off
By the ChatGBot Team · Published November 2, 2026
An AI text message generator works best when you tell it who you are texting, what happened and how you want to sound, then edit the draft so it sounds like you. You can do that in an ordinary AI chat in about a minute.

- Name the person and your relationship. "My manager of two years" gets a very different message from "a friend I haven't seen since college".
- Say what happened in one or two plain sentences. Messy is fine.
- Pick the tone and length.
- Ask for three options. Seeing a range makes it easier to know what you actually want to say.
- Rewrite it in your own words. Swap anything you would never say, then send.
Prompts for the messages people dread
Saying sorry
Prompt: Write 3 short apology texts to [person and relationship]. What happened: [what you did]. I want to take responsibility without making excuses or sounding dramatic. Keep each under [number] sentences and do not ask them to make me feel better.
Saying no without a long story
Prompt: I need to turn down [invitation or request] from [person]. Real reason, if useful: [reason]. Write 3 texts that are kind but clear, with no fake excuses and no promise to do it later.
Work messages
Prompt: Write a Slack or text message to [coworker or manager] about [issue]. Goal: [what I need them to do] by [time]. Tone: friendly and direct. No "hope you're well", no apology for asking, 2 to 3 sentences.
Replying when you have no idea what to say
Prompt: Someone sent me this: "[paste their message]". Our relationship: [context]. I want to [goal, such as comfort them, end the conversation politely, or set a boundary]. Give me 3 replies, from shortest to longest.
A real example
The situation: you forgot a friend's birthday dinner and it is now the next morning.
A weak draft: "OMG I am the worst person ever, I've been so crazy busy, please don't hate me!!"
A better result: "I missed your dinner last night and I'm really sorry. There's no good excuse, I just lost track of the day. I'd love to take you out this week to make it up to you, if you're up for it."
The second version names what happened, skips the excuse and makes a concrete offer. Look for that in any draft.
Small changes that make the draft sound human
- Paste two or three of your real texts and ask it to match your style, punctuation and all.
- Ban the giveaways. Add "no exclamation marks, no 'I hope this finds you well', no em dashes" if that is how you text.
- Ask for it shorter. "Cut this by half" often gets you the best version.

What to check before you hit send
- Invented details. AI may add a plan, a reason or a memory that never existed. Delete anything untrue.
- Private information. You can replace names and sensitive details with placeholders before pasting a conversation.
- Whether AI belongs here at all. For grief, a breakup or a serious apology, use it to sort out your thoughts, then write the final words yourself.
Text generator apps vs a general AI chat
| Dedicated text generator | General AI chat | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting started | Usually a form or preset tones, so it is quick | You type a prompt, which takes a little practice |
| Context | Often limited to what the form asks for | As much background as you want to give |
| Follow-ups | Varies by tool | Keep asking for changes in the same chat |
| Other tasks | Usually just messages | Also handles things like an email draft or a summary |
For a quick one-liner, a dedicated tool can fit well. If your situation needs explaining, a chat usually does better.
Doing this in ChatGBot
ChatGBot is a paid general chat where one subscription gives you GPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Qwen and GLM, so you get your message by prompting as shown above. The useful part for tone is that models write differently. Run the same prompt on two of them in the same chat, compare the answers, and keep whichever sounds closer to you. Here is more on several models in one subscription.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI write text messages for me?
Yes. Give it the person, the situation and the tone you want, and it will draft options in seconds. Read and edit the draft before sending, since you are the one who knows the relationship.
How do I make an AI text sound less like AI?
Paste a few of your real messages and ask it to match them, then ask for a shorter version. Removing formal phrases and extra punctuation helps a lot.
Can it help me reply to a confusing or rude message?
Yes. Paste the message, explain the context and say what outcome you want.
Is it okay to use AI for an apology?
It can help you find the words, but the feeling has to be yours. For anything serious, use the draft as a starting point and rewrite it yourself.
Is it safe to paste my private conversations?
Be careful with anything sensitive. You can swap real names and personal details for placeholders, since the AI usually only needs the general situation.
